  Welcome!

The first recorded Australian baseball match was played on February 21st, 1857, between Collingwood and Richmond, at the Exhibition Grounds in Melbourne.

Nearly 150 years later, it is enjoyed by tens of thousands of Australians, young & old, male & female, summer & winter.

bullet About the NSW Junior Baseball League

Formed in 1988 to administer the junior arm of Baseball in the Sydney Metropolitan area, NSWJBL ran successfully for many years in this role. Following a restructure of the sport in 2003, the organisation is now devoted to an extensive programme of international touring teams, on behalf of members. We remain committed to our core goals and still operate ".. for the advancement of Junior baseball in NSW."

bullet About IBA Boys

Since inception in 1983, the Japan-based IBA has run many activities both domestically and internationally. Affiliated with over a dozen countries, it organises a series of invitational tournaments each year, available to participants from North and South America, Asia and Europe. In addition, it runs a series of domestic activities including conferences, camps, competitions and tours.

bullet About the Kenko ball

Most of our activites use a special ball that is safer than a conventional baseball, and whose characteristics promote good mechanics while young players are developing.

Rubber baseballs are designed to reduce the risk of serious injury, and this is their primary function. However, the behaviour of the ball also promotes good infield fundamentals. The Kenko "C" ball is dimpled, much like a golf ball, and the Kenko "B" has moulded seams, allowing a pitcher to throw off-speed and breaking balls just as s/he would in the adult game.

Over 70 years ago, a Japanese merchant named Taikichi Nagase began manufacturing a rubber baseball that has become a Japanese tradition.

Combining a textured rubber surface with a hollow air center, "nankyu" baseballs are renowned in Japan for their safety and durability. More than 90 percent of Japanese children play with this safety baseball, and Nagase Kenko Corporation (NKC) is the industry leader – holding a market share of more than 60%. Since it has been manufacturing this product, over 6 billion NKC (Kenko) balls have been sold without a single serious injury.
